Harvest Activity Strong with 1 Week to Go

The Black Walnut harvest is heading for the home stretch looking stronger!  With activity at most hullers picking up in the last few days, we expect to see a lot more nuts brought in before the harvest winds up.

Buying will continue at all 220 locations in 15 states through Monday, November 5, and a few operators will continue for a few days after that.

Price is still an all-time high of $15 in Missouri and states west of the Mississippi River, and $14 in areas east of the Mississippi.

Total purchases through Monday Oct. 29 are over 8.1 million pounds, which is a little below where we thought it would be.  With all the nuts now on the ground and decent fall weather forecast, we expect to end up with a total harvest around 15 million pounds — so there’s a lot of nut picking left to do!

It’s going to be an exciting time for the thousands of people who will be out enjoying the fall weather, making memories and harvesting the rest of their wild black walnuts!
