Our nut procurement team has completed its survey of the 11 state area where we have hulling stations to buy Black Walnuts during the fall. While the trees appear to have more nuts than last year in the eastern areas of Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana, the larger producing states of Missouri and Arkansas seem to have shorter crops. The net result is expected to be a below-average 2015 harvest. We plan to be aggressive and do everything we can to achieve our goal of 20 million pounds – including paying $14.oo per hundred pounds (after hulling) at all of our 215 hulling stations in 11 states. We’re optimistic as the Black Walnut harvest approaches, and praying for good weather.
Harvest begins October 1 and will run through at least November 2. So tell all your friends to plan on enjoying the October fall days by picking up some “cash” falling from Black Walnut trees!
